CS Graduate Students, Faculty Win Best Paper Award at the 9th Workshop on Argument Mining

Computer Science Graduate Students Yue Dai, Meiqi Guo, and Zhexiong Liu, as well as Dr. Diane Litman, a professor in the Department of Computer Science, won the Best Paper Award at the 9th Workshop on Argument Mining, co-located with the International Conference on Computational Linguistics.

Their paper, “ImageArg: A Multi-modal Tweet Dataset for Image Persuasiveness Mining,” presents ImageArg, a multi-modal dataset that consists of annotations of image persuasiveness in tweets. With ImageArg, they expand persuasiveness mining into a multi-modal realm and mine image persuasiveness from an argumentative perspective, of which there is little prior work done.
