Computer Science Graduate Students Yue Dai, Meiqi Guo, and Zhexiong Liu, as well as Dr. Diane Litman, a professor in the Department of Computer Science, won the Best Paper Award at the 9th Workshop on Argument Mining, co-located with the International Conference on Computational Linguistics.
Their paper, “ImageArg: A Multi-modal Tweet Dataset for Image Persuasiveness Mining,” presents ImageArg, a multi-modal dataset that consists of annotations of image persuasiveness in tweets. With ImageArg, they expand persuasiveness mining into a multi-modal realm and mine image persuasiveness from an argumentative perspective, of which there is little prior work done.
