Diane Litman receives Provost’s Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring

Dr. Diane Litman (professor, Computer Science & senior scientist, LRDC) received one of the three Provost’s Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring in 2020.

Dr. Litman has been recognized for her “ability to see the potential in students and encourage them to explore difficult problems and establish independence in their careers.” She is applauded for mentoring students who have “accomplished careers as faculty members, data scientists and software engineers…[adding] to the distinction of the University of Pittsburgh.” The Provost’s Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring annually recognizes outstanding mentoring of graduate students seeking a research doctorate degree.

Dr. Litman is the third recipient of this award in our Department. Past recipients are Dr. Panos K. Chrysanthis (2015) and Dr. Rami Melhem (2012).

Dr. Litman will be recognized for her award at a virtual event on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
