CS/COE 447 Updated Schedule =========================== Chapter 5 required more lectures than anticipated, so the lecture, quiz and homework schedules fell behind. We will not cover all of the material in the original lecture slides posted for Appendix B. That file of slides has been modified (the extra material is still included, but after a marker indicating the end of material covered this semester). 20 semester points are currently unaccounted for: 2 quizzes (5 points each) and a homework (10 points). Recall that the syllabus lists 300 total points for the semester. You have two options: OPTION 1: You don't take the two quizzes and don't do the last homework, and those points will just be ignored. Your final point percentage will be calculated: #number of points you earned ---------------------------- 280 OPTION 2: A combined Quiz 8 and 9, worth 10 class points, will be given during recitations next week (April 16 and April 18). The Monday and Wednesday quizzes will have the same types of questions, but will have different specific questions. Part 1: You have been given the diagram of the ALU control block on Slide 32 of the Slides for Appendix B, and Figure 5.12. Consider the instruction XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX On the diagram of the ALU control block, show the inputs and outputs of the control block and all its internal gates. Part 2: Given the following excerpt from a solution for Programming Assignment #3 or #4, show what values are assigned to which memory locations and/or registers. An optional homework is posted on the course schedule, worth 10 class points. The homework is due by Friday, April 20. --- If you do the quiz but not the homework, or the homework but not the quiz, then your final point percentage will be: #number of points you earned ---------------------------- 290 If you do them both, then your final point percentage will be: #number of points you earned ---------------------------- 300 --
