CS1502, Spring 2009.  Information about Exam 1.

Exam 1 is Thursday, February 12.

You are responsible for the following for Exam 1:

   Lecture Notes 1 through 11, plus examples we did in lecture on
   the board.  

   Assignments 1 through 4.

   The sections from LPL listed on the schedule of homework
   assignments through the sections for chapter 17, namely:

   LPL:  1.1-1.5  2.1-2.5  3.1-3.7 
         4.1-4.6  5.1-5.4  6.1-6.6
         7.1-7.3  8.1-8.4  17.3 (pp. 479-481)
         17.4

The exam is closed-book, and no computers are permitted.  However,
you will have pp. 557-559 of the LPL text, which lists the proof rules.

All of the questions will be related to a "You try it" exercise, a
homework exercise, or something covered in lecture.  

To study, I suggest you go over the lecture notes (including the
examples done on the board) and the solutions to the assignments,
reviewing the book as needed.  Practice the examples and assignments
without looking at the answer, then check your answers.

Be sure to review all the types of questions on the homework.

Tuesday, February 9, the class before the exam, will be a review
session.  I will go over any of the exercises you ask me to, and
answer questions.  I will go over some question types we didn't spend
as much time on in lecture.
