About Cyprus and Greece

Cyprus is a beautiful island in the east Mediterranean sea. Limassol -the town where I was born- is one of the greatest Mediterranean harbours and is situated on the southern side of the island.

Cyprus is full of archeological places, Byzantine treasures and alluring beaches. And as you can imagine, swimming and drinking wine is what we like doing the most.

As a Greek-Cypriot, I was highly affected by the Greek culture and tradition, and while living in Greece, in my college years, I had the opportunity to visit many popular places in the whole country and be generally close to the "modern Greek lifestyle".

Greece is a paradise of history, white & blue beauty and amazing nightlife. That is the least I can tell. I think it's the best combination for summer vacations!! :)

Traveling

Well, Traveling for me is vital. It is not just for taking photos. If you just want to see or learn about something, there are easier and  cheaper ways to do so. Traveling is about feeling, appreciating and interacting with things. It is all about improving myself, but most importantly, relaxing.

While I was in college, I used to take the opportunity during vacations to travel around Greece and Europe. I used a lot of low-budget traveling means (InterRail, Ships, Camping, Youth-hostels, EasyJet and my small old used car -mazdoui) but it was the best way to visit European countries and many interesting and well-known places in Greece.

Of course, being now in USA, I  will take again the opportunity and make some trips around... :)  In fact, I have already took a short trip to Washington DC and New York city !

Music

I can say that listening, playing and studying Music is my favorite hobby. I have an endless interest in music and it is my way to take a break from the technocratic and Lab stuff of my PhD studies... 

I studied piano and theory/harmony of music for many years and I own an advanced piano level certificate from the national conservatory of Athens. In the last 2 years in Patra, I had the chance to study advanced music theory with a great musician and teacher,  Mr. Vagelli Kordobouli and I received the Special Diploma in Music Harmony/Consonance and a Diploma in Music History.  

Other Activities / Hobbies

• Martial Arts (Karate): Hold a Black Belt 1st DAN W.P.K.A. (World Profi Association).
                                        My master  (sensei) is Takis Mandelis (Patra-Greece).

• Sports: I am a great fan of Football (Soccer for those who believe in American 'football').
                And of course Panathinaikos is the best (for those who believe in Greek football).
                And of course Apollon Lemesou will be always in my heart.
                I also like volleyball and sea sports .... and I also want to learn fencing.

• Ex Member of Patra's Astronomy Company "Orion".

• Volunteering Activities: - Athlete and official service Assistant, Athens 2004 Olympic Games, Fencing.
                                            - Services at "Fencing Grand Prix", Athens 2004.
