Complete the following problems from the Banks text:
Exercise 9.20
Exercise 10.1
Exercise 11.4
For
this problem, there are two corrections:
1) The example referred to in the text should be
11.8 rather than the one specified.
2) The statement "although we cut the error
in half" is incorrect, since the half-width for the initial sample size is
0.339. See Example 11.15.
Although this problem is presented in the context of steady-state
simulations, only concern yourself with the techniques for confidence intervals
as discussed in lecture and in Section 11.4.2.
For all three exercises, use Excel and do them in a way similar to what we did in lecture. For 9.20 see panera.xls for help, for 10.1 see ttest.xls for help and for 11.4 see confidence.xls for help. Submit your Excel files to the submission site. Include comments and conclusions within your Excel documents.
