Grading:
Grades may be available on the Blackboard (Courseweb) System. Details will be announced as they become available. |
Labs:
Lab attendance is recommended since the lab TA will be on hand to provide assistance and answer questions. Lab assignments are contained in the lab manual. Each lab assignment is due at the start of the following week's lab session. Any lab handed in after that time up until the start of the next week's lab session (two weeks after the lab) is considered late with a 15% penalty. Lab assignments handed in after that will not be graded. |
Homework:Homework assignments and their due dates will be posted on the course webpage as they're assigned. Homework will be assigned roughly once a week. It will be due at the start of lecture on the due date, and no homework assignments will be accepted late. |
Exams and Quizzes:Two exams will be given during the term: a midterm and a cumulative final. Four to Five quizzes will also be given in lecture every two to three weeks. All exams and quizzes will be closed book and closed notes with exception to the final, which will be split into a closed book written exam and an open book lab portion. The dates of each exam or quiz will be announced in lecture and posted on the course website. |
Cheating:Students are encouraged to work together during lab sessions and consult each other on homework assignments. However, every student is responsible for independently completing his or her own work on labs, homework assignments, quizzes, and exams. First offense will result in a 0 on the graded material, and a second offense will result in an F for the course.
Academic Integrity:Students in this course will be expected to comply with the University of Pittsburgh's Policy on Academic Integrity. Any student suspected of violating this obligation for any reason during the semester will be required to participate in the procedural process, initiated at the instructor level, as outlined in the University Guidelines on Academic Integrity. This may include, but is not limited to, the confiscation of the examination of any individual suspected of violating University Policy. Furthermore, no student may bring any unauthorized materials to an exam, including dictionaries and programmable calculators. |
Disabilities:If you have a disability that requires special testing accommodations or other classroom modifications, you need to notify both the instructor and the Disability Resources and Services no later than the 2nd week of the term. You may be asked to provide documentation of your disability to determine the appropriateness of accommodations. To notify Disability Resources and Services, call 648-7890 (Voice or TTD) to schedule an appointment. The Office is located in 216 William Pitt Union.
