* I have a daughter!
My first child was born on December 18, 1995. Her name is Thalia Maria .
Thalia was one of the nine muses of the Greek mythology, the goddess of comedy and laughter !
* Nobel Prize...not for me, but..
My father, Kypros Chrysanthis, M.D., Ph.D. has been renominated for 1997 Nobel Prize in Literature...the excitement continues!

name comes from) Has been nominated for 1996 Nobel Prize in Literature. ]
You can tell I feel proud of him!
* Panos' first Book...
My first book, an IEEE Excecutive Briefing, was published in September 1996. It is called Advances in Concurrency Control and Transaction Processing, and is co-authored with Krithi Ramamritham of UMass.
* Teaching Award...
I got my third teaching award in two years in a row from my department. This year, I got the Computer Science Teaching Award for effectiveness in teaching of a service course during 1995-96. Last year, I got the same one as well as the Computer Science Teaching Award for effectiveness in teaching of a graduate elective course during 1994-95.
* Good news...
I am on sabbatical at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) until next Summer (August 2000).
* Sad news...
My father, Kypros Chrysanthis, M.D., Ph.D. is not longer with us. He died on June 5, 1998 in Cyprus. (Obituary)
