Announcements

07/28: Last Announcements:

·         You can still turn in work you’ve missed, up until Wednesday

·         Test format will be:

1.      Written, 20 questions from the review sheet—closed notes/computer, followed by

2.      Hands on, I’ll give this to you once you hand in the written portion—this is done on a lab computer

·         The Hands on portion

o   This will be a printed Word Document—the objective is to create a close approximation and then email me your version

o   This will cover the objectives in the book, labs and homeworks for Word—these are your best study aid.

o   Don’t exactly duplicate—where I have my name, I expect yours; where I have my Pitt username, I expect yours.

o   Anything I specifically mention you should definitely duplicate

o   Use the features we’ve covered; for example, a page number should use the page number feature, not a text box.

07/25: The Review Sheet is up, good luck studying.

07/25: The hands on part of the final will cover Word, so be sure to review the labs and homework for those chapters.

Old Announcements

07/15: I messed up a link for Homework 14 (it’s fixed now)—because of this, the homework is postponed until next Monday.  Homework 15 will also be due Monday as we move back to the regular schedule.

07/04: I’m pushing back the deadline for Homework 11 to July 9th so you all have more time to work on it.  The first Powerpoint chapter is pretty light on material so it should not interfere much.

06/23: Midterm review clarifications (will not show up)
91: A(n) __________ format changes the appearance of a cell range based on certain criteria.
The intent was to get you to think of the conditional formatting we did in Excel.  Since I forgot to put down Excel, and also worded it a bit strangely, it isn’t all that clear.

06/04: If you run into an error while zipping your files, make sure you aren’t trying to compress a temporary file.  Office files create temporary files when they are open (they look like ~$name).  To get rid of this temp file, just close office.

05/29: The office has gotten more crowded and isn’t suitable for office hours.  The new office hour policy will be for me to wait in the office, but move to the regular classroom lab if someone shows up.

05/28: The file type issue seems to be due to internet explorer.  I will try and get this fixed but in the meantime using firefox seems to work fine. *Update* This issue should now be resolved.

05/19: If the slides open up as a .zip file, save the file to disk.  Then change the file extention from .zip to .pptx
For example, rename blah.zip to blah.pptx.  For documents, save it as blah.docx

05/12: Welcome to class, grab the Course Syllabus if you missed it in class.
