Course Description
This seminar course will introduce the students to the foundations of
real-time systems and power management in computer systems.
The emphasis is on understanding predictability and
resource management, investigating power management techniques
and exploring fault tolerance issues in real-time systems.
Specific
real-time fault-tolerant and power management schemes will be discussed.
Requirements and grading:

Homeworks and one exam in February (25%).

Paper presentations and class participation (25%).

Class project and report (50%).

Scheduling in Real-time systems
Reward-based systems
Types of redundancy (hardware, software and time redundancies).
Performance and reliability evaluation techniques.
Fault tolerance in distributed systems.
Power management techniques
Fault tolerance and power management in real-time systems.

Presentations by students.
Each student will have to read, understand and discuss one paper per week.

Presentations and Demonstrations of Class Projects
Each student will present a proposal and a final demonstration of a project
