Purpose:
Computer architecture and hardware system organization are examined.
Topics include: CPU organization and control,
instruction set implementation, memory organizations, input/output structure,
peripherals and interfacing, and computer communications.
Textbooks
Computer Organization and Design - The Hardware/Software Interface
By David Patterson and John Hennessy
Second Edition - Morgan & Kaufmann.
Requirements and grading:
Three exams (25% - 25% - 25%).
Homeworks (25%).
Policy on cheating and late homeworks
Homeworks are to be individual efforts. Collaboration
is considered cheating.
Cheating on exam or homeworks will results in a grade of "0" for the first
time (for all involved students) and an "F" in the course for the second time.
Late homeworks will not be accepted and
Exams will not be rescheduled except under extraordinary circumstances.
