I completed my Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh under the mentor-ship of Prof. Taieb Znati. Before coming to Pitt, I spent 4 memorable years at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in the wonderful city of Lahore, Pakistan. I studied Computer Science and Mathematics there.

 

My research interests are in computer networking and distributed systems and span green networking, future internet design, wireless systems and performance modeling.

May ’10                       : Our paper has been accepted to the Elsevier Computer Networks Journal

May ’10                      :  Our paper has been accepted to the GENI Experimenters Workshop (GEW) to be held at Princeton University in June, 2010

May ’10                       : Technical report of our work on rate adaptation in multi-hop wireless mesh networks will be up shortly

October’09                  : Defended my PhD proposal

·         Lesson: scheduling a proposal date with five committee members can be very challenging

October’09                  : Participated in the NSF Future Internet Architecture Summit in Arlington, VA (great experience!)

July’09                         : Attended the 5th GENI Engineering Conference in Seattle, WA as part of the GPO

May’09                        : Presented our work on the incremental deployment of BMCC in Tokyo, Japan

April’09                       : I’ll be spending my summer at BBN technologies in Cambridge, MA, where I’ll be working on the GENI project

March’09                    : Received the Best Graduate Student Research Award 2009, Computer Science, University of Pittsburgh

March’09                    : Received the Best Poster Award (faculty choice) at the 9th Annual Computer Science Day 2009

March’09                    : I have been awarded the Andrew Mellon Pre-doctoral Fellowship for the year 2009-2010
