THE PESTILENCE CALLED WAR

(BERNHARD TO HIS FAMILY --WW2):
An American pilot comes down by a parachute, his plane in flames.
He breaks his right leg and he's there without movement in a field
covered in snow. I am the first to reach him.
He is scared he is going to be shot out of hand. As best as we can, we
make a splint and carry him back...
Full of gratitude, he shakes my hand. HOW EASILY WE COULD UNDERSTAND
EACH OTHER - how true it is!
WE MUST REMAIN ENEMIES JUST BECAUSE WE LIVE IN DIFFERENT
COUNTRIES!!!!!
