CS Help Room
The objective of the CS Help Room is to provide tutoring services to undergraduates taking computer science courses at Pitt. The help desk is staffed at the beginning of each term. Students interested in tutoring work should contact the undergraduate secretary at 412-624-8492 or should stop in the undergraduate office at 6145 Sennott Square. The student will be asked to complete a course assistant application. We seek students who enjoy working with others and who have performed well in the four core courses (CS0401, CS0445, CS0441, and CS0447).
The Undergraduate Office of Computer Science is currently accepting applications from students seeking positions as undergraduate course assistants.
Course assistants assist students enrolled in lower-level programming classes. The help room is for students who need help with CS 0004, CS 0007, CS 0110, CS 0131, CS 0132, CS 0401, CS 0441, CS 0445, and CS 0447.
The hours that we schedule you to work will be created around your busy schedule. The help room is generally open during these various hours:
9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
10:00a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Saturday
Closed Sunday
Undergraduate computer science majors who have completed the four core courses and are interested in these positions may obtain additional information from 6145 Sennott Square.
Lab Monitor
The department maintains a PC computing lab in 5505 Sennott Square. Lab monitors are employed to maintain security and provide essential lab services.
Undergraduate Teaching Assistant
The department has started to hire qualified undergraduate students, on a selective basis, to help with its teaching mission. Candidates for these positions are typically contacted by a member of the faculty.
The department is now hiring undergraduate teaching assistants to help with CS0401 and CS0110.

Undergraduate Researcher
Occasionally, faculty involved with research hire undergraduates to assist them with research projects. The students selected for these projects have typically performed very well in several upper-level classes. Advertisements for these positions are found posted in Sennott Square or are announced in class.
