Faculty Recruiting - Joint CS and LRDC Position
The Department of Computer Science (CSD) and the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC) at the University of Pittsburgh are seeking applications for a joint full-time tenure-track position at an Assistant or Associate Professor rank to begin in the Fall Term 2010, pending budgetary approval. Candidates are expected to develop a strong interdisciplinary program of research in Computer Science and Education. Areas of research include, but are not limited to, data mining, visualization, machine learning, human-computer interfaces, interactive gaming and virtual reality, and artificial intelligence (AI), with emphasis on applying those technologies to education, human learning, theories of pedagogy, or improving learning environments. Responsibilities include research and supervision of graduate student research (PhD and MS), as well as teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Candidates should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related area and should demonstrate exceptional research potential and teaching ability. Candidates for a senior position should have a strong record of research accomplishments and leadership.
