Manas Saksena
Adjunct Faculty
Dr. Saksena received his B.Tech. (Computer Science and Engineering, 1988) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, and MS and PhD degrees (Computer Science, 1991 and 1994) from the University of Maryland, College Park. From 1994 to 1999, he was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Concordia University, Montreal.
He joined the Department of Computer Science, University of Pittsburgh in 1999. He also holds an affiliate appointment in Computer Engineering, and an Adjunct appointment (Associate Professor) at Concordia University.
Dr. Saksena has been involved in various projects on design and implementation of real-time systems that have addressed problems in operating systems, scheduling, design methods, and communications. He has also conducted research in computer networking on bandwidth allocation and efficient transport of Internet traffic over ATM networks.
His current research interests are in various aspects related to the design and implementation of real-time systems. Most recently, he has been working on a UML-based design methodology for developing object-oriented real-time systems that can automatically synthesize QoS preserving implementations from design models.
