Does Not Compute


  • Computers have their faults, just as humans do, and now a pair of University of Pittsburgh professors are working to make them more "tolerant." Are they accepting of other computers of different backgrounds or socioeconomic groups? Actually, Daniel Mosse and Rami Melhem, both of Pitt's Department of Computer Science, have received a $1.6 million grant from the federal government to study "fault tolerance" in computers. They will work on designing a system that will still work even when parts of it break down.
