The Federal Bureau of Investigation.s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division, Clarksburg, West Virginia, has posted the first in a series of job vacancy announcements for the position of Information Technology Specialist. Representatives from the FBI will conduct an on-campus briefing, Tuesday, April 12, at 3:00 p.m. The agency is seeking highly qualified individuals with degrees in any computer science related discipline.
The CJIS Division houses four major criminal justice database systems that service a user community in excess of 80,000 agencies. These include the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, the National Crime Information System, the National Criminal Instant Background Check System, the Uniform Crime Reporting system, and Law Enforcement On-line. Additionally, the Division supports an internal user community of 2500 employees and a number of local area networks. There are presently 400 information technology professionals employed at the Clarksburg, WV facility.
This briefing will provide potential applicants with an overview of this entry level position, a detailed summary of federal employment, and instructions for submitting applications to the FBI. Representatives will be available to answer questions in both a group and individual format.
To be elegible for employement in this position, applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirements within 60 days of the closing date of the announcement. This will permit graduating students sufficient time to complete their degree and meet academic requirements of the vacancy. In addition, applicants must meet all other elegibility requirements for employment with the FBI. These requirements will be discussed in detail by agency personnel.
