The GPSA has very graciously made more funds for A&S students even though we had already used up our allocations for the year. Please thank the GPSA officers and our reps if you see them. If you filed for a travel grant request in the last few weeks you should be getting a new check soon.

Grad Expo Abstract Submission Extension

New Administrative Assistant

A&S GSO has hired a new AA, Julie Costa-Malcolm (Theatre Arts), who will be starting mid-August. Be nice!! GPSA also has a new AA, Jaime Nawojski (English), who started last week. She's the person to talk to about travel grants and other GPSA services.

GPSA Changes Travel Grants

Travel Grant Fund Exhausted

Travel Grants will no longer be awarded until September 1, 2009. The lack of available GPSA funds created a greater volume of A&S GSO requests.

Health Insurance Info

Health Insurance Plan for those with Eligible Academic Appointments (TAs, GSAs, TFs, GSRs, and Fellows)

Online enrollment is now open for those with eligible academic appointments namely, TAs, GSAs, TFs, GSRs, Fellows and Mellon Fellows ONLY. Those with eligible academic appointments MUST enroll by August 13 to receive their ID card by September 1. Coverage will be cancelled on August 31 for those that do not re-enroll. Those with eligible academic appointments will receive information about the insurance plan through their graduate secretaries, or they can go to the Grad Care website. If you are not a TA, GSA, TF, GSR, Fellow or Mellon Fellow, DO NOT attempt to enroll in this program.

Health Insurance Plan for All Students Without an Appointment

All other graduate students who DO NOT have one of the appointments listed above can buy into the new UPMC Student Health Plan. All students will receive information about this plan in the mail.

Accessing Your Account Balance

These are some updated instructions about how to access your actual account balance in your People Soft account. Make sure you are looking at your actual balance rather than one of the "snapshots" on the main page. The balance that actually reflects all your recent charges, payments and credits can be found by:

Logging onto https://my.pitt.edu
select Communities, select Student Services, select View my PeopleSoft Student Account
Follow this path: Home > SA Self Service > Learner Services > Finances > Account Summary
Click on the term you want to view and you will view the Summary for Term
Click on -> View Account Detail and you will see detail of all transactions on your financial account for that term

The Dean's office, Payment Processing and Financial Aids appreciate everyone's patience while we all get used to the new system.
