Abstract
On September 30, something happened that will likely change web search forever--and it happened down the street. Now, you can get an eyewitness account from one of the developers involved--who just happens to be a recent Pitt CS alumnus. Founded in June 2000 by three former Carnegie Mellon University computer scientists and located right in Squirrel Hill, Vivísimo's clustering technology has been a revolutionary force in enterprise search for four years. Now, they're taking it to the masses with Clusty, designed with help from Pittsburgh's own Wall to Wall Studios. Former ACM chapter president and now Vivísimo Software Engineer Jason Godesky will talk about Clusty's development, how it works, and why so many experts are calling it the big new thing in search.
