Business Plan Competition

March 27, 2009 - 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sennott Square 5th and 6th Floors

We are now accepting entries for the first CS Day Business Plan Competition!

This year, the Computer Science Industry Board is sponsoring the first "Business Plan Competition". A panel of CS Industry Board members will judge the business plan entries and the winner will be announced on CSDay (March 27) and awarded a $200 prize. To enter the competition, a student (or group of students) need to submit a business plan by March 20, 2009, 9:00am.

The contest will be open to undergraduate and graduate students. Individual undergraduates and graduates as well as small groups are encouraged to participate and submit business plans for consideration.

We would like all submissions to be electronic PowerPoint files. This should be easier on most of the students and will provide easier access for the judging panel.

Business Plan Details:
*The Business Plan must be in a Power Point format. Please follow the exact Business Plan Presentation template and include the financials within the PowerPoint as well. (include a clear title and author name).

Business Plan Tutorial:
*Given that CS students may not be familiar with business plans, the Industry Board is organizing a "Tutoring Session" to go over the content of a plan, and especially its financial aspects.

*Business Plans should be submitted to /afs/cs.pitt.edu/public/incoming/csday-businessplans/

*For all entries, every submission must make a primary contact, and at least one author needs to be avilable for questions for a one-hour period on CS Day (specific details on this will be announced closer to the deadline, but all graduate students who can should make an effort to attend regardless so please encourage your students to do so).
