Poster Competition

February 22, 2008 - 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sennott Square 5th and 6th Floors

We are now accepting entries for the CS Day Poster Competition!

Certificates and prizes will be awarded to the best posters. A grand prize winner will be selected by faculty judges, and a "people's choice" winner voted by attendees to CS-Day who will be filling out a short contest form themselves.

A major difference with last year's contest will be the nature of the awards, while students are encouraged to highlight their personal research, we will be allowing multiple authors for the posters. The contest will be open to undergraduate and graduate students. Individual undergraduates as well as small groups are encouraged to participate and submit posters for consideration.

As with last year, we would like all submissions to be electronic. This should be easier on most of the students and will allow us to print all competing posters consistently prior to CS Day. An announcement with path to the submission folder will be sent soon.

Poster Details:
*The poster should be approximately 24 x 36 inches (and should include a clear title and author name).
*Format is preferably PPT or PDF.
*It is recommended that students set the paper size appropriately to avoid any deterioration to image quality. (If we are forced to scale up the printing, doing so otherwise may cause the quality to look unacceptable).
*Please allow for a small "number" label to be attached in the lower right hand corner (i.e. when such a label is attached - no larger than 2x2 inches - it should not obscure important information).

Submission Deadline:
Monday, February 11th, 2008 - 9:00 a.m. 11:59p.m.

Please try to name the submitted PPT or PDF file in a manner that would identify the contact author (e.g., using the pitt.edu username as part of the filename), even if the poster itself should contain this information.

Posters by an undergraduate, or a group of undergraduates should be submitted to /afs/cs.pitt.edu/public/incoming/csday-posters/ugrad
Posters that include graduate student authors should be submitted to /afs/cs.pitt.edu/public/incoming/csday-posters/grad

For all entries, every submission must make a primary contact, and at least one author needs to be avilable for questions for a one-hour period on CS Day (specific details on this will be announced closer to the deadline, but all graduate students who can should make an effort to attend regardless so please encourage your students to do so).

Please direct questions to Professor Ahmed Amer.
