Homework Assignment

For this homework, you need to define a problem that can be run and analyzed. Examples of problems are the "ping" problem in the R-package lecture and the KOSO/KOSO* problem in Paul Cohen's webcast about statistical elements. Clearly, none of the problems that are presented/related to the class are not acceptable. Your problem should have a set of dependent and independent variables that you should identify. Describe the space of experimentation, that is, the range of values that the variables will take and why. Describe also the types of statistical measures you are going to do.

You must hand in a hard-copy of your design, typed (not hand-written). It should not be too long (up to 2 pages), and it should be complete enough.

The deadline is Wed, Sept 10, at the beginning of the class (1pm).

If you'd like, you can start coding and doing your experiments, since the deadline for this part of the homework, including the statistical analysis, is the following Wednesday, Sept 20. Use any statistical package you want (R package, SPSS, S package, Microsoft Excell, etc).
